When you think of an elevator speech, what comes to your mind first?

Usually, people think of a short, memorized speech for getting funding for their business, or what they say to someone when they first meet someone and want to tell them what they do and who they help.

It’s usually used in a 1-on-1 context. However, if you hang on and keep reading, I’ll reveal to you another use for elevator speeches that can be seen by many (and even attract the right clients to you).

But, first, we need to learn the formula for the elevator speech that can bring you this result.

The best way to do this is to imagine a scenario where someone asks you, “What does your agency do?”

From this question, the formula almost creates itself.

Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?

These are the 6 questions you can answer, using this formula:

Who do we help?

What do we do (for them)?

Where is pretty much a given, so it’s not a necessity to answer here.

When do we help them? (The timeline)

Why do they need help?

How do we help them?

I’ll use Digital Agency Nucleus as an example.

Who do we help? We help Digital Agency owners.

What do we do (for them)? We coach them and hold them accountable.

Where is pretty much a given, so it’s not a necessity to answer here.

When do we help them? (The timeline) For us, this is not really needed, but it could be a 90-day program, in which you’d say, “We help them in 90 days.”

Why do they need help? They are struggling to get clients, or they are struggling to grow. They may have a one-person operation.

How do we help them? We have coaching and a community.

Now, from these questions, we start to formulate a short statement. But, first, let’s put it all together:

We help Digital Agency owners. We coach them and hold them accountable. We have coaching and a community. We help them grow.

When putting them together, sometimes you might have all of them to combine, but in our case, the first two are the main ones to piece together.

So, if someone came to me and asked me what Digital Agency Nucleus does, I could say, “We coach Digital Agency owners and hold them accountable so their agency can grow.” Some will be shorter, some will be longer.

Now, the trick is to use this “Elevator Speech” in a more effective way than 1-on-1 communication.

This can now become our bio on social media. The most effective place, though? This can be the statement we put above the fold on our website, and then add an effective Call to Action button underneath it.

So, what do we do? We coach Digital Agency owners and hold them accountable so their agency can grow.
